INTRODUCING EL MIRANTE MICROLOT
This washed Typica shows why Peru has been one of specialty coffee’s best-kept secrets for years. Bright, elegant, with an exceptionally clean finish.

At El Mirante, high in the Peruvian Andes, the Mendoza family has worked the same three hectares of land together for generations. Parents teach their children how to grow better coffee. Children gradually take on more responsibility on the farm. That way, knowledge is passed down from generation to generation, just like the coffee.

Grown at: El Mirante, Cusco, Peru – 2,050 metres altitude
Roasted in: the Netherlands
Roast: Light roast
Process: Fully Washed
Flavour profile: floral, citrus, stone fruit, soft caramel and a refined sweetness.

As always: one small lot. When it’s gone, it’s really gone. And trust us, you don’t want to miss this one.

DRIED FOR TWENTY DAYS
At 2,050 metres, everything moves just a little more slowly.

After picking, only the ripest coffee cherries are pulped and washed. The parchment then dries for almost 20 days on raised drying beds in the shade.

The cool mountain air lets the coffee develop slowly into an exceptionally bright and elegant cup.

MEET THE MENDOZA FAMILY
El Mirante is small: just three hectares! But that’s exactly why the Mendoza family knows every tree, and every coffee plant gets individual attention. Everyone pitches in, from picking to fermenting and drying.

For them, coffee isn’t just about today’s harvest, but above all about the next generation. The knowledge parents have built up over many years is passed on to their children every day.

And you can taste those years of wisdom in the cup.

WHAT IS FULLY WASHED?
With a washed coffee, the fruit pulp is removed right after picking. The coffee then ferments slowly in the cool mountain climate before the beans are carefully washed and slowly dried.

The result? A coffee that gives its origin all the room it needs. Don’t expect over-the-top funky flavours, but rather a clear, fresh and elegant cup where the quality of the bean takes centre stage.

VALLE INCA
Good coffee starts with a system that helps farmers produce better coffee and get paid fairly for it. That’s why the Mendoza family works with Valle Inca, a network of more than 400 coffee farmers in Cusco.

Valle Inca supports farmers with training, quality improvement and access to specialty markets, so more value flows back to the people who grow the coffee.

Exactly how a coffee supply chain should work, if you ask us!

MEET THE ROASTER: JOSE
Hang on, coffee roasted in the Netherlands? Yep.

Almost everything we make is roasted at origin, in Africa. That’s what FairChain is all about: creating as much value as possible where coffee grows.

But these Microlots are different. Jose, our Head Roaster and Quality Control specialist, roasts these mini-batches in the Netherlands first. That lets him develop the perfect roast profile for each unique coffee. Our FairChain roasters in Africa then take over the profile.

Think of it as a test drive before the real journey begins. So this batch is a one-off: roasted by Jose in the Netherlands, just for this Microlot. One more reason why, when it’s gone, it’s really gone.

FLORAL • CITRUS • STONE FRUIT
Expect a bright, elegant cup with floral aromas, fresh citrus, ripe stone fruit and a soft caramel sweetness. Thanks to the Fully Washed process, you taste the origin unfiltered: clear, refined and surprisingly complex.
