The Microlot La Plata from El Diamante, Colombia has been cultivated by Derlin Roa and Diego Campos. This coffee-power couple has travelled the world, filling the prize cabinet with World Championship Barista cups, from matches in Colombia to London and Milan. 

This medium roast coffee has an undertone of nuts and sweetness of honey and is complemented by fruity notes of lime.

Farmers Campos-Roa

The Microlot La Plata is being developed by Derlin Roa and Diego Campos. After a successful coffee career travelling the world, they have returned to a quiet life in the countryside. Together with coffee farmer Elias Roa (remember the Huila Microlot?), this young Colombian is taking coffee cultivation 'to the next generation'. With their young and driven spirit, they look every day to get new flavours in their bean on their farm in El Diamante, La Plata.

 

ROASTING - LUIS FERNANDO

Luis has made it his life's mission to find the best beans and roast them to perfection. To control every variable in the branding process and work it out to perfection, Luis first makes test roasts in small batches. When he has found the perfect brand profile, he moves on to the big job. 

For the La Plata, Luis has opted for a medium roast, bringing out the fruitiness along with nutty undertones. Enjoy this flavour bomb!

Our ambition is to provide our customers with radically good coffee, to roast 100% of our beans in the coffee belt so that more jobs, skills, and value can stay local; to ensure coffee farmers earn a living income and their communities thrive.

In the same way, you would say thank you to your local barista in the morning, we want to acknowledge the tireless effort of all the farmers and roasters we will feature throughout the series. 

Moyee Coffee Impact Mission

Currently, 90% of the proceeds of the total coffee production disappear into the pockets of a number of large multinationals, which we call the 'Big Coffee'. This means that the coffee farmers are left with only 10% of the value. Value where nothing has been 'added' - only 2% is actual profit! We may be entrepreneurs, but this imbalance cannot be justified in any way. 

By applying FairChain principles we leave 300% more money in the coffee-producing country. We also pay our farmers a 20% FairChain premium with the aim of growing towards a living income.
